And Now for Something Completely Different

To combat the ‘side effects’ of a rather debauched life of eating and drinking a LOT, and to keep my general fitness levels up, I do a variety of home exercise (when I feel like it!). Those of you who know me well will know I have a huge collection of Beachbody products, including the famous Insanity and P90X programmes. Shaun T is my favourite fitness instructor as he is no nonsense and his programmes get results, though there are loads of different programmes and different instructors to suit different tastes.
Recently I decided to try out a Beachbody programme called 21 Day Fix with Autumn Calabrese. Yes, I know what you’re thinking – Autumn is a season not a name…but she does have killer abs so it’s not too hard to take her seriously. The programme promises you ‘the body you always wanted’ in 21 days, following their exercise programmes and diet plan. I’m now on Day 19 and I still have the body I always had, though probably a bit fitter and with a bit more muscle. I strongly suspect that my steady diet of beer, wine and constantly eating out may have something to do with me not achieving the amazing weight loss that others have experienced. I’ve done a separate post on my 21 Day Fix journey.
So in a final, some may say desperate, push to get rid of some of this ‘holiday’ flab that I’ve accumulated now that we are on permanent holiday I’ve decided to do Dr. Oz’s 3-Day Detox Cleanse. While I don’t necessarily believe in the whole detox fad (it has been debunked in numerous publications) I still think three days of green juices can’t be a bad thing for your body. The detox promises increased energy, better skin, better digestion, all the usual things really. I suppose all I really wanted to say was don’t expect any restaurant reviews for the next three days – it will just be me and my trusty NutriBullet whizzing things up! I will keep you posted on how it goes – so far not too bad although rooibos tea instead of my usual double fix of caffeine wasn’t the best start to the day!
